SMT (Surface Mount Technology) stencil wipe paper is a critical consumable used for cleaning stencils in the electronics manufacturing process. Its structural design directly impacts cleaning performance and production efficiency. High-quality wipe paper must effectively absorb solder paste and flux residue while preventing fiber shedding and contamination of the stencil or electronic components.
In terms of material composition, SMT stencil wipe paper typically utilizes a multi-layer composite structure. The base layer is typically made of high-density wood pulp paper or synthetic fiber, providing stable physical support and durability. This layer must exhibit excellent tear resistance to withstand the mechanical stress of repeated wiping. The middle absorbent layer is the core functional component and is often made of highly absorbent polymers (such as polyacrylamide) or specially treated cellulose fibers. It rapidly absorbs oils and solid particles from the solder paste through capillary action. Some high-end products incorporate static dissipative fibers to prevent static absorption of microscopic contaminants. Surface treatment layers, such as fluoropolymer coatings, are oleophobic or hydrophilic, reducing solder paste adhesion, while microfiber woven layers enhance flux capture.
In terms of process detail, the grammage of high-quality stencil wipes (typically 50-120 g/m²) is precisely calculated. Excessive wear can lead to breakage, while excessive weight can affect liquid absorption. Some products utilize interlaced fiber weaving technology to create a micron-level pore structure, ensuring liquid permeability while preventing large particles from penetrating. Edge treatment is also critical. Laser cutting or ultrasonic edge sealing eliminates burrs and prevents fiber flaking and contamination of stencil openings.
Modern SMT production lines are placing increasingly stringent demands on the environmental performance of stencil wipes, with biodegradable substrates and low-dust formulations becoming a growing trend. By optimizing structural layers and scientifically formulated materials, stencil wipes play an irreplaceable role in improving printing accuracy and extending stencil life. Their refined structural design directly reflects the sophistication of electronics manufacturing processes.
